The „Aussichtsreich“ guest and lodging house is located high above Bad Harzburg on the Burgberg (483 m above sea level), which can only be reached from the town on foot or by cable car.

The first record of the Saxon idol Krodo dates back to the 8th century. The first castle was built between 1065 and 1068 under Emperor Henry IV. After the defeat in the Saxon uprising, it was decided to destroy the castle in 1074. Barbarossa rebuilt and extended the castle in 1180. In 1218, Emperor Otto IV dies on the castle hill, where the imperial insignia were also kept in 2010. The castle changed hands several times until the 16th century, when Duke Augustus the Younger had it demolished in 1650.
Since then, the remains of the castle have been repeatedly excavated and secured. In the meantime, the „Förderverein Historischer Burgberg Bad Harzburg e.V.“ has been founded.
The guest and lodging house „Aussichtsreich“ was reopened in 2014 and promises to entice and pamper the palate and mind. Situated in the middle of the castle hill, visitors are treated to an unforgettable view. In the Aussichtsreich, you can observe and intensively experience the exciting capers of the weather both indoors and outdoors. „Watching the weather at work“ is a phrase recently coined by Dirk Junicke, owner of the guest and lodging house.
From the Canossa Column, you have a fantastic view far into the Harz foreland. The Canossa Column on the Burgberg plateau was erected there in 1877 in honor of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
You should continue the hike to the stamp points HWN 122 Kreuz des deutschen Ostens, HWN170 Rabenklippe and HWN 169 Molkenhaus.
Parking is available at the large parking lot in Bad Harzburg directly on the B4 towards Torfhaus. There you have to decide whether you want to climb the Burgberg on foot or take the cable car up the 150 meters to the top.
The stamping station is located directly at the garden fence of the „Aussichtsreich“ right next to the cable car mountain station.
