Stamp point 168 / Triangular pole

The „Dreieckige Pfahl“ is a historic boundary stone in the Harz National Park and is located between Torfhaus and Oderbrück.

Originally, the stone marked a border triangle, then the border between the Kingdom of Hanover and the Duchy of Braunschweig and later the border between the GDR and the Federal Republic of Germany. Today, the state border between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt runs along this point.

There used to be a managed hut near the triangular pile, but it was burnt down in 1945. Today there is a refuge on this site, which also houses the stamp box.

From the crossroads, a path leads south to the Wurmberg, north to the Brocken, east via Sandbrinkstraße to Schierke and west to Oderbrück and the cemetery of honor for victims of the Second World War.

The shortest route leads from the small parking lot at the cemetery of honor to the triangular pile, from where you can continue the hike to Brocken HWN 9 or Wurmberg HWN 156.
