The Barenberg viewpoint (696 m above sea level) is 150 meters above the Elend Valley and offers a beautiful view over Schierke, the Erdbeerkopf and the Hohnekamm with its cliffs.
The shortest access path starts on the outskirts of Elend and leads steeply up to a viewpoint from which you can overlook the Elendstal valley. From the viewpoint, the trail continues to the summit of the Barenberg. We recommend descending via the Schnarcherklippen HWN 14 and hiking back through the Elendstal valley.
The path between Barenberg and Schnarcherklippen is difficult to walk on due to storm damage. The original path is no longer recognizable over a length of approx. 200 m.
