Stamp point 54 / Rotestein

The Rotestein (503 m above sea level) is located not far from the Stemberghaus charcoal burner near Hasselfelde. It is an interesting vantage point high above the Rappbode Dam and offers a wonderful view over the shimmering waters of the dam as far as the Brocken peak.

The Rotestein was voted the most beautiful stamp site in 2010 by our hiking friends.

Opinions from hiking enthusiasts:
„The view of the dam from the Rotestein is fantastic. You feel like you’re on a fjord in Norway, but you can see the Brocken in the background.

„This stamping point can also be easily reached by hikers who are not so good on foot. Despite its proximity to the main road, you will find heavenly peace and quiet to dream and relax.“

The best starting point for a hike to the Rotestein is the parking lot in front of the Harzköhlerei Stemberghaus HWN 60. From there, cross the B 81 and follow the signposted hiking trail for approx. 2 km to the Rotestein.
