Stamp point 66 / Wilhelmsblick (viewpoint)

The Wilhelmsblick is located above Treseburg about 1 km after the village exit in the direction of Thale.

As part of roadworks carried out in 1861, master road builder Wilhelm came up with the idea of building a tunnel right next to the highway to reach the unique viewpoint above. The viewpoint was later named after him.

A sign with the following slogan was placed right next to the tunnel entrance:

Wanderer, stop your steps if you want to delight your heart and mind.
Easily climb mountain heights, where the shivers of the previous world blow.
And long ago there were towers and battlements.
But now your eye rests on the mountain stream’s wild flood.
And you feel only air – but horror, if you dare to look down.
Enter this cave.“

The Wilhelmsblick is located on a narrow rocky ridge, which is surrounded by the Bode in a large arc. As a result, you can see several sections of the Bode river from this beautiful vantage point.

A recommended starting point for the hike is the parking lot on the banks of the Bode in Treseburg. Past the bus stop, you will reach Wilhelmsblick via an ascending path with several viewpoints. You can return to Treseburg through the aforementioned tunnel.

You can also continue the hike to Forsthaus Todtenrode HWN 65 or to Rosstrappe HWN 71.
