The Hahnenkleeklippen (758 m above sea level) lie high above the Oder Valley between Braunlage and St. Andreasberg.

The name is derived from the old field name „Hohe Klippen“ and has nothing to do with the Harz village of „Hahnenklee“. The Hahnenklee cliffs form a 700 m wide rock face above the Oder valley.
From the cliffs, you have a wonderful view of the Rehberg and the man-made „Rehberger Graben“. Down in the valley, the small Harz river Oder meanders through the meadows.
This striking river valley between Braunlage and St. Andreasberg was formed 250 million years ago by tectonic activity in the Harz Mountains. The Oder Valley used to be the summer pasture for the „Harz red cattle“.
The best starting point is at the hiking parking lot at Königskrug. The stamp box is located in the hut at the turn-off to the Hahnenklee cliffs. From there, a narrow path leads directly to the viewpoint on the cliffs.
