The Rote Schuss (505 m above sea level) is located at the end of the Limbach valley in the Ellrich municipal forest.

Towards the valley, it drops so steeply that you can see the red porphyrite of the mountain. Perhaps this is where the mountain got its name, but people in Ellrich and Zorge tell a different story:
„A few hundred years ago, a notorious poacher lived in Ellrich. For a long time, the foresters tried in vain to catch him at his criminal trade. One day, a young hunter was transferred to Ellrich and decided not to rest until he had put the poacher out of action. He surprised the poacher in the forest just as he was busy gutting a roebuck. The poacher, who refused to surrender, shot the hunter down. The earth drank the innocent blood spilled and the whole mountain blushed for this sacrilege for all eternity.“
