On the summit of the Herzberg near Ilfeld is the Ilfeld weather vane, which has been a landmark of Ilfeld for over 100 years.

The first weather vane was erected in 1870/71 as a wooden monument. Over the course of time, the weather vane had to be replaced several times due to various weather conditions and the current weather vane was erected in 1974 and restored in the 1990s. The arrow on the reverse side means that the wind direction can also be seen from the valley.
A signposted hiking trail leads from the guest parking lot in the center of Ilfeld past the Neanderklinik via the Gänseschnabel to the Ilfeld weather vane.
