Stamping point 110 / Granestausee

The Granetalsperre is located above the Langelsheim district of Astfeld/Herzog Juliushütte.

Built in 1969, the Granetalsperre is the youngest of the Harz dams and was constructed in the Granetal valley. As the river Grane itself did not carry enough water for the 3 km long lake, an approx. 7.4 km long tunnel was built to the Oker below the Oker dam. This tunnel also takes in water from the Gose along the way. Another 4.8 km long tunnel leads from the Radau to the Große Romke and thus also into the Oker-Grane tunnel. There is also an underground connection to the Innerste dam.

The stamping point is located on the east side of the reservoir and is the shortest way to reach it from the „Unter den Eichen“ parking lot above the Steinberg district of Goslar.

The tour can be wonderfully combined with the HWN 111 Steinbergturm and then stop off at the Steinbergalm.

The Granestausee lake was voted the most beautiful stamp site of 2011 by our hiking friends.
