Stamping point 115 / Bismarck Tower

The 15 meter high Bismarck Tower was built on the Kummel (536 m above sea level) in Bad Lauterberg.

The Bismarck Tower is a popular excursion destination in Bad Lauterberg. It was built in 1904 on the initiative of the medical councilor August Tischmann and today belongs to the Harzklub ZV Bad Lauterberg. The first donations were collected in November 1902 so that the construction work, which was carried out by the master bricklayer Walter Nagel from Bad Lauterberg, could begin quickly. The Bismarck Tower was built from natural stone and bricks. A relief of Bismarck made in the bronze foundry is located halfway up above the entrance to the tower.

There used to be a fire bowl on the top of the tower, which was removed in 1987. During the opening hours of the restaurant, the tower can be accessed via a 60-step stone staircase and an 11-step metal staircase. The building was completely renovated in 2000.

On a clear day, the tower offers an excellent view of the neighboring Großer Knollen, Hanskühnenburg, Brocken, Wurmberg, Sankt Andreasberg, Odertalsperre and Ravensberg as well as Bad Lauterberg and the districts of Barbis, Bartolfelde and Osterhagen from its viewing platform.

The Bismarck Tower is located on the Harzer Baudensteig and is best reached from the parking lot on the Lönsweg.
