Stamping point 135 / Wolfswarte (NPH)

The Wolfswarte (918 m above sea level) is a rocky outcrop of weathered quartzite, which is part of the partially wooded Bruchberg massif (927 m above sea level) and belongs to the core zone of the national park.

The rocky Wolfswarte can be easily seen from the Glockenberg in Altenau, from Schulenberg and also from Torfhaus. The Wolfswarte offers a magnificent view of large parts of the western Harz and far into the northern Harz foreland, which is why it is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the entire Harz for nature lovers.

A good starting point is the small parking lot on the road from Torfhaus to Altenau. From there, you can take the very stony and often wet Wolfswarter footpath directly to the rocky cliff of the Wolfswarte.

From Altenau, more comfortable but longer paths lead to the Wolfswarte, some with excellent viewpoints. To the right of the „Am Mühlenberg“ parking lot, the Gustav Baumann Trail leads over the Kunstberg to the Dammgraben. A slightly ascending path leads via the Gustav-Baumann-Weg HWN 134 stamping station to the Okerstein and on along the Oberer Bruchbergweg to the Wolfswarte.
