The Helenenruh (550 m above sea level) is located on the Wiedaer Hüttenweg between Wieda and Zorge.

In the past, the red ironstone mined in the Wieda and Zorg mining districts was transported to the blast furnaces in the valley by horse and cart. The last blast furnace of the „Zorger Hütte“ went out in 1895, as smelting with charcoal proved to be no longer competitive in the late 19th century.
The Helenenruh can be reached from the Wieda spa gardens via the Kastental valley, which is signposted as a hut trail. From the refuge, the Harz Baudensteig trail continues to the little horse trail HWN 58 to Zorge.
