The Katzsohlteich is a reservoir and is located on the outskirts of Güntersberge, just above the Mühlteich, also known as the „Bergsee“.

There is also a nice resting place at the Katzsohlteich, which is used as a receiving water and fishing water. There used to be a marble mill at Katzsohlteich, which was powered by water from the pond but unfortunately no longer exists. The mill was used to cut and polish marble from a quarry located slightly above the pond.
The mill pond is a reservoir created in 1752 with a 10 m high earth dam on the Selke watercourse. It is used for fishing, flood protection, low water elevation and is also a popular local recreation destination. The mountain lake is 125 m long and 12 m wide and is used for swimming, fishing and rowing.
For railroad enthusiasts, the Selketalbahn passing directly by the southern shore of the mountain lake offers a beautiful photo motif.
A special attraction in Güntersberge is the extraordinary museum of mousetraps and curiosities. You can admire mousetraps of all kinds, as well as old, rare kitchen utensils and other curiosities. In the museum’s gallery of quiet places there is a picture gallery on this subject that is unique in Germany.
A good starting point for the short hike to the Katzsohlteich pond is the parking lot at the mountain lake, from where you follow the signposted circular trail and then turn off to the Katzsohlteich pond.
