The rest area at Kaffehorst (735 m) is located directly near the former inner-German border above the Bremke.

The Bremke is 4.7 km long and has a gradient of 290 m until it flows into the Warme Bode. It used to mark the border with the GDR along its entire course and today it marks the border with Saxony-Anhalt.
In the early post-war years, this route was also known as the Schnapsweg. Schierker Feuerstein was smuggled to Braunlage and in return herrings were smuggled to Schierke. After reunification and the demolition of the watchtower standing here, this rest area for hikers was created in 1995 on the initiative of the Harzklub.
Between 2012 and 2013, the entire arial at Kaffeehorst was redesigned. A four-seater chairlift was built for winter sports from Kaffeehorst to the Wurmberg summit with a length of 960 m, a height difference of 250 m and a transport capacity of 1,800 people per hour. In addition, new ski slopes and a large parking lot for 600 vehicles were built.
You can reach the stamping point from the „Kaffeehorst“ parking lot via the signposted hiking trail. It is a good idea to continue the hike to Wurmberg HWN 156, approx. 2 km away.
