The Laubtal, through which the „Große Uhlenbach“ flows, is located between Friedrichsbrunn and the Uhlenstein forester’s lodge.

Today’s „Friedrichsbrunnen“ is a landmark of the village, which centuries ago was a popular resting place for merchants, hunters, warriors and mercenaries on the old Quedlinburg-Nordhausen military road. In 1754, King Frederick II stopped at the resting place known at the time as the „Unfaithful Well“ during an inspection tour.
At the king’s behest, families settled as colonists between 1773 and 1775. The newly created village was given the name Friedrichsbrunn and the well was renamed „Friedrichsbrunnen“.
The tourist development of the tranquil village of Friedrichsbrunn, which is now a popular vacation destination in the Bode Valley, began back in 1884. In the extensive forests and meadows in the area, you can admire rare plants such as arnica, Turk’s cap lily, daphne and autumn crocus, not forgetting the „Trollblumenwiesen“ natural monument.
From the hiking parking lot at the end of the village in the direction of Güntersberge, you hike along signposted hiking trails across the Trollblumenwiese meadow and then along the Großer Uhlenbach stream to the Laubtalsblick stamping station.
