Radio mast in the forest under a blue sky

Stamping point 51 / Carlsturm

The Carlsturm stands on the Carlshaushöhe (626 m above sea level) between Trautenstein and Sophienhof.

Radio mast in the forest under a blue sky

It was rebuilt in 1998 by Harzer Schmalspurbahn GmbH as a radio tower with a visitor platform. The tower has a steel weight of 30,000 kg and a height of 50 m.

The view from the tower is sensational and extends over the whole of the Oberharz as far as the Kyffhäuser.

A good starting point is the Radwegehaus parking lot on the B81 between Hasselfelde and Ilfeld. As a day tour, however, you can also include the HWN 50 Walzenhütte, the HWN 47 Oberharzblick am Buchenberg, the HWN 48 Stierbergsteich, the HWN 97 Ziegenalm Sophienhof and the Carlsturm in a beautiful circular tour from Trautenstein.
