The Trageburg ground monument (499 m above sea level) was a small medieval castle complex and is located 2.5 km from Trautenstein above the right bank of the Rappbode reservoir.

Fords through the Harz rivers, where there were usually also small farms with horses to provide fords, were protected by small castles. One such protective castle for the ford through the Rappbode was the Trageburg, referred to as Draburg in a document from 1654.
